International payments app Zing has partnered with digital payments provider Checkout.com to integrate a range of alternative payment methods into its platform. Through this collaboration, Zing members can now access top-up options such as mobile wallets, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, supported by Checkout.com’s payment infrastructure.
The agreement designates Checkout.com as Zing’s primary global acquiring partner, marking a strategic effort to modernise payment processes and support Zing’s international expansion. A shift toward alternative payment methods According to the official press release, since the partnership’s inception, Zing users have increasingly moved away from traditional card-based top-ups in favour of alternative methods. This trend reflects a broader demand for faster, more flexible payment options, aligning with Zing’s approach to improving user convenience and streamlining cross-border transactions.
Zing aims to leverage Checkout.com’s technology to improve transaction acceptance rates and optimise its payment processes. With direct acquiring capabilities in over 55 countries, Checkout.com’s infrastructure is expected to play a critical role in enabling Zing’s entry into additional markets. Representatives from Checkout.com, noted the alignment between the two companies and highlighted that the collaboration with Zing reflects a shared commitment to innovation in digital and international payments.

In October 2024, Checkout.com released a new study that highlighted customer buying behaviours that power the current digital economy, conducted across the UK, the US, UAE, and China. The research revealed a number of trends, including the growing spending power of Generation Alpha. According to the study, children aged 8-15 are driving over a quarter (27%) of their household’s monthly spending, a percentage which is rising to nearly a third of monthly spending for digital purchases, as 29% of Millennial parents also take responsibility for purchasing digital tools each month for their children.
