Stripe builds the most powerful and flexible tools to accept payments online. Since our founding, we’ve grown our organization to 1000+ team members across eleven global offices, and are processing billions of dollars a year for thousands of businesses in 25 countries. Stripe powers many new businesses, many in categories that barely existed five years ago, and we believe it’s a snapshot of how the internet is changing.
Many of our greatest challenges have yet to be solved, so we’re looking for a consultative and creative problem solver to join a small team focused on growing and scaling our Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting workflows within a fast-paced environment that’s growing globally. You can expect high impact and wide-ranging responsibility on a team that shapes our understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business and advises on non-routine transactions.
You will:
- Shape the evolution of financial reporting and analysis workflows and deliverables.
- Invest in process and system changes needed to support changing reporting requirements.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of global accounting policies and documentation.
- Navigate challenging technical accounting issues; advise on complex transactions, interpret new accounting standards, lead business combination integration initiatives, and track Stripe’s investments.
- Manage projects with accounting service providers.
- Handle ad hoc information requests from investors and other external stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- 7-8 years of relevant accounting experience in industry and public (Big 4 preferred), with a CPA license.
- Experience at a company with best-in-class reporting processes.
- Expertise in U.S. GAAP and the ability to navigate complex transactions and accounting concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to maintain high-performance and attention to detail under tight timelines, as well as a “roll up your sleeves” mindset to get any job done.
- Oracle, Workiva, or other equivalent application experience.
Nice to haves:
- Knowledge of (or experience in) the payments industry.
- Experience with SQL or a willingness to learn.
- IFRS knowledge.
