Provides quantitative analysis and financial forecasts for regulatory submissions. The role develops, enhances, and documents performance tracking of financial forecast models for various aspects of the organization’s direct banking and payment service products. Works under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities

Works with model risk management to ensure compliance with model risk management policies and supports model validation.

Provides support and training to model users to ensure that each team understands the models and their limitations

Produces financial projections for stress testing and other risk management exercises. Develops and maintains a robust understanding of the company’s businesses and financial results and strong relationships with key LOB Finance and business partners to support understanding and analysis of financial projections.

Supports the capital planning process by participating in effective challenge process, developing and reviewing capital plan supporting documentation, and coordinating with the capital planning project management office.

Performs model-performance tracking and monitors controls around model usage.

Develops SAS and SQL programs to execute financial models and aggregate results in the cloud environment (Amazon Web Services).

Develops approaches and generate forecast on Deposit products for capital planning and liquidity stress test.

Works with the Technology teams to implement the CECL models for Discover Card, Discover Student Loans (DSL), and Discover Personal Loans (DPL) products.

Develops data analyses and reporting capabilities on forecast results. Present results and recommendations to management and process owners.

Coaches and guides junior analysts on data analytical tools and modeling concepts.
Skills:Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field

4+ years of experience in financial analysis, strategy, business management, or related field
-
In lieu of a Master’s Degree, 6+ years of experience in financial analysis, strategy, business management, or related field with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in SAS and SQL; Experience in data analytics involving a large amount of data

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Ability to multitask and deliver results under tight timeline

Experience with R or Python is a plus

An understanding of statistical modeling is a plus
