The Global Consumer Lending (GCL) organization exists to evolve our portfolio and approach with the aim to transform the way we meet borrowing needs in an ever changing landscape.
Since the early 1960s, providing Cardmembers flexibility to pay charges over time has been a key feature of the American Express Premium Charge Cards. Today, Pay Over Time is one of the largest products in the consumer lending portfolio and it is a critical driver of profitability. Pay Over Time features provide card members a critical tool to manage their account while enhancing the flexibility of the Charge cards.
We seek a highly motivated, end-to-end product owner who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join the GCL Pay Over Time product organization. This Senior Manager will be responsible for all aspects of product development, from ideation to implementation, as well as overall program management to ensure the effective execution of multiple project priorities that will drive business growth.
Primary responsibilities:
- Manage Pay Over Time product roadmap and drive product strategy based on an intimate knowledge of the end consumer, business goals and technological capabilities.
- Lead product development workstreams for both phased launches and on-going product enhancements, advocating to achieve best outcomes.
- Write and prioritize features, manage product backlog, and partner closely with technology to groom, sprint plan, and implement new capabilities that drive high value to our card members and deliver on business goals.
- Monitor product data and customer feedback to refine features and iterate.
- Integrate customer research and market analysis into actionable product requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to Premium Products, Technology, Marketing, Customer Experience, Finance, Risk, Pricing, Legal and Compliance.
- Be an expert in Agile product development and embed it into team culture.
Qualifications
- Product expert. You have experience ideating, defining and writing features in Rally or similar tool, prioritizing features based on clear methodology, and working in an Agile environment.
- End-user focused. You design compelling products that put consumer needs first and have an innate ability to perceive, assess and solve stakeholder requirements.
- Creative thinker. You thrive on problem-solving to come up with out-of-the-box solutions for customer challenges and can adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities.
- Excellent project manager. You have superior organizational skills and attention to detail with a proven ability to autonomously manage multiple initiatives in parallel and drive results.
- Compelling communicator. You have a strong professional presence and proven influence management skills that lend to effective communication with both tech and business partners.
- Relevant experience. You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in product development and/or management, preferably within lending, financial services and/or technology.
