PayPal Partners and Marketplaces team is building next generation payment solutions to power these platforms and be ahead of their needs. We package our scalable, secure, reliable payment system into a simple interface for our partners to provide a seamless payment experience for their customers. We are looking for a well-experienced and talented Architect with deep expertise in enterprise product architecture and preferably Payments background. This individual will lead the technical design, work through solution brainstorming and design scalable and global payment products for PayPal for Partners. The ideal candidate would also have business acumen to turn product vision into technical reality, excellent communication to interact with external partners and to be effective in guiding internal stakeholders through architectural brainstorming and build out. Responsibilities
- Lead and define technical design of new capabilities from business requirements, including collaboration with external and internal stakeholders.
- Develop a deep understanding of different domains covering the entire PayPal for Partner product suite with specialty in Payments domain.
- Develop a deep understanding of enterprise technology inventory to craft solution roadmap that achieves business objectives, maximizes reuse, with platform mindset.
- Document the technical designs for internal and external consumption.
- Pilot new initiatives to keep our technology stack ahead of the curve
- Mentor junior developers including code and design reviews
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives to improve developer productivity and improve quality of our products.
Minimum qualifications
- 10+ years of experience building external services at scale
- 5+ years of experience architecting enterprise-level product from client integration to service API with scale and complexity
- Experience having operational ownership of production services, including working with Devops and/or SRE teams
- Demonstrated ability to learn from past experiences to have a strong opinion on recommended practices
- Experience defining and building public APIs
- Excellent communication and ability to influence without authority.
