VP - Strategic Initiatives, Mastercard Send
Overview
Mastercard Send is a key component in establishing Mastercard as a global leader in new payment flows. Mastercard Send facilitates the secure delivery of funds between senders and receivers, typically within seconds. Through a single connection to Mastercard Send, businesses, merchants, governments, humanitarian organizations, financial institutions and others can send money to consumers and small businesses domestically and cross border. The service supports multiple use cases, e.g., person-to-person, business to business, disbursements, remittances and merchant payments. With our technology and expertise we are making sending money safe, simple and fast.
The Vice President – Strategic Initiatives, will lead a team of product managers responsible for executing key projects that are meant to drive the next phase of growth of the Mastercard Send business. Reporting to the S/VP, Push Payments, this highly-visible role is responsible for creating and executing initiatives that have been identified by the leadership team to deliver an incremental hundreds of millions in revenue in the next 5 years. This person in this role will need to partner with large cross functional and regional teams and follow the end to end Product Management Excellence framework to deploy these new use cases and solutions into the markets.
Role
- Drive key strategic initiatives to expand Mastercard Send to new use cases and adjacent/new flows;
- Determine and execute the innovation agenda for Mastercard Send including new and differentiated product features and platform strategy;
- Lead, manage and develop a global product team to execute end-to-end product management for these initiatives;
- Partner with large internal cross functional teams to commercialize these solutions;
- Identify other strategic initiatives that will drive short, medium and long term revenue for the business;
- Explore partnerships and M&A opportunities to accelerate/enhance these initiatives
- Act as the end-to-end owner of these initiatives by defining the product construct, pricing, sales material, training and all other commercialization activities including scaling these programs post launch;
- Engage with external customers to drive the launch and adoption of these initiatives;
- Establish key metrics for evaluating the performance of the initiatives post launch;
- Monitor the competitive landscape- traditional, nontraditional and new technologies;
- Understand regulation impacting our business and operate with best practices from a global perspective;
- Act as internal and external subject matter expert and thought leader representing Mastercard publically in speaking engagements, industry conferences, the press and also with customers.
All About You
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent degree. Advanced degree preferred
- Significant background in payments and financial services, specific Push Payments experience preferred; management consulting experience preferred
- Extensive experience in product management in a global role with proven success in creating and launching product solutions
- Experience in cross border payments is preferred
- Experience in leading and managing day-to-day business operations
- Superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with and influence both internal constituents and senior level customer contacts
- Exhibits tenacity, encourages healthy debate and challenges conventional thinking
- Ability to oversee multiple projects and initiatives concurrently
- Experience in managing multi-location cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering success while operating within a matrixed and team environment
- Solid understanding of competitive offering and industry trends
